Will my engagement ring match the wedding band?
I have a very beautiful solitaire engagement ring with a platinum band. Platinum, however, is outrageously expensive. My finance has already spent a ton on the engagement ring and I would hate for a ton to be shelled out on wedding bands as well. Would it be possible to just get a white gold wedding band, or would it not match?
You can get a white gold band, they'll look almost exactly the same. But after a while depending on your skins acidity the white gold will start to turn a bit yellow, so they'll just have to rhodium plate it. Though it's NOT good to wear platinum against any other metal. If you're going to chose two different metals, make SURE you solder them together. Then the platinum won't ware on the gold. I used to work in a jewelery store and we would always make sure the women knew that the gold will ware away quite fast unless you have them soldered together. So make sure you solder them.

What is the average price for a one-karat engagement ring?
So Im planning on shopping around for an engagement ring, and I was wondering what to expect as far as prices go. Im nervous about buying a ring because I dont want to get ripped off or anything, and want to get what Im paying for. Any help would be great. Thanks.
it's really hard to say because depending on the cut, clarity and color the price can vary a lot.
But I can tell you that a "rule of thumb" is that an engagement ring should cost 3 months salary. So, if you make $500 a month, the ring should cost $1500. If you make $5,000 it should be $15,000.
BUT, I also don't believe that your bride-to-be's ring should cause you to file bankruptcy. So, my suggestion is that you pick a price range and stick to it. Get the best you can for the amount you can afford to spend.

Personally i would always go for a higher color and clarity (quality over quantity).

What is a good chain for a diamond solitaire necklace?
I am buying my Mom a diamond necklace. The diamond will be about 1 carat and round in shape. The necklace will be in white gold.
